However, if you're going for unforgettable melodies and heartfelt songwriting regardless of recording quality, this archival recording unveiled from the vaults by the Wizard Of Us is just the right stuff. And the two excellent "outtakes" included on the track list make this collector's item even more worthwhile. Favorite track: venus and mars.

This is in fact the first release we ever did as Us. Meant as promotional material and a step up for the cd´s that followed. We decided to put this on BC for the diehards only. The first 4 tracks have found their way to A sorrow in our Hearts and The Ghost of Human kindness. The songs have changed in the making since this recording was done by Ernest, Paul and me. The last two tracks have not made it to a later US album but maybe they should.

Billed as the masters of symphonic prog this album is an interesting of styles and influences. Folky in parts, rocky in others. Vocals are good and male for a change. Both lyrics and music are involving and all in all this album is a good listen. I will be looking at The Gift's other offerings. Russell Whyman

An amazing reinterpretations of old Genesis classics. Even "Invisible touch", in my opinion one of the worst songs by Genesis, in this album is a little gem. You can almost imagine Steve Hackett on classical guitar. mario1984

This is one of the best interpretations I've heard of Genesis music, Pete would have made an excellent replacement vocalist for the band itself, he has a lovely feel for the songs, and a perfect voice for the material Colman Jones
